From state funding to the federal healthcare debate, a variety of issues were covered during Monday's Legislative Breakfast sponsored by the Livingston County Farm Bureau. State Senator Dan Rutherford told the crowd, at the Pontiac Elk’s Lodge that the Illinois public is fed up with partisan politics. CLICK FOR SOUND Rutherford says the state must stimulate job growth, but not by imposing additional fees. He’s also calling for the restructuring of the Medicaid system to more of a managed-care format. Meanwhile, State Representative Keith Sommer admits that there will be cuts at the state level, but as to how it will all turnout is unknown. CLICK FOR SOUND Congressman Tim Johnson’s aide, Kevin Johnson, told the crowd that the healthcare issue is taking up a lot of time in Washington. He admits that many house members are skeptical of voting for a healthcare plan. County Board Chair Bill Fairfield and Livingston County Farm Bureau Young Leader Chair Brad Schmidgall also spoke at the breakfast.
